Zusammenfassung: | Old Testament texts frequently offer a theological view of history. This is very evident in the Books of Chronicles and in the final section of Ben Sira (Ecclesiasticus). Today there is renewed interest in both these works as significant theological and cultural Jewish documents from the centuries before Jesus. Both Chronicles and Ben Sira aim to recreate a national identity centered on temple piety. Some chapters in this volume consider the portrayal of Israelite kings like David, Hezekiah, and Josiah, while others deal with prophets like Samuel and Elijah. |

Today there is renewed interest in both these works as significant theological and cultural Jewish documents from the centuries before Jesus. Both Chronicles and Ben Sira aim to recreate a national identity centered on temple piety. Some chapters in this volume consider the portrayal of Israelite kings like David, Hezekiah, and Josiah, while others deal with prophets like Samuel and Elijah.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="588" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Print version record.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">In English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Bible.</subfield><subfield code="p">Chronicles</subfield><subfield code="x">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Bible.</subfield><subfield code="p">Ecclesiasticus</subfield><subfield code="x">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Bible.</subfield><subfield code="p">Ecclesiasticus</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Bible.</subfield><subfield code="p">Chronicles</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">RELIGION</subfield><subfield code="x">Biblical Studies</subfield><subfield code="x">Old Testament.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Beentjes, Pancratius Cornelis.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Corley, Jeremy.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Grol, Harm van.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Rewriting biblical history.</subfield><subfield code="d">Berlin ; New York : Walter de Gruyter, ©2011</subfield><subfield code="z">9783110240931</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2011013790</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)711959899</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Deuterocanonical and cognate literature studies ;</subfield><subfield code="v">v. 7.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2008092229</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=388201</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="l">CBO01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=388201</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">De Gruyter</subfield><subfield code="b">DEGR</subfield><subfield code="n">9783110240948</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">388201</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">316593</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">3672076</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Old Testament texts frequently offer a theological view of history. Print version record. In English.
