Zusammenfassung: | Most therapeutics available today are highly toxic, very expensive and exhibit minimum efficacy. The issue of toxicity is even more critical for prevention than for therapy because the former involves normal subjects. Thus, therapeutics that are safe and affordable are needed for both prevention and therapy. Spices of Southeast Asian origin, once employed for taste, appearance and preservation of food, now appear to have therapeutic value for humans. What the active principles in these spices are and how they mediate their effect against various diseases are beginning to emerge from extensive research carried out within the last half-century. The current monograph is an attempt to address the active constituents, their molecular targets and the therapeutic uses of these spices. |

Spices of Southeast Asian origin, once employed for taste, appearance and preservation of food, now appear to have therapeutic value for humans. What the active principles in these spices are and how they mediate their effect against various diseases are beginning to emerge from extensive research carried out within the last half-century. The current monograph is an attempt to address the active constituents, their molecular targets and the therapeutic uses of these spices.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="588" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Print version record.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Spices</subfield><subfield code="x">Therapeutic use.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Spices</subfield><subfield code="x">Physiological effect.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Medicinal plants</subfield><subfield code="x">Analysis.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Spices</subfield><subfield code="x">analysis</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Phytotherapy</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="2" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Plants, Medicinal</subfield><subfield code="x">chemistry</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="2" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Medicine, Traditional</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="2" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Ethnopharmacology</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Épices</subfield><subfield code="x">Emploi en thérapeutique.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Épices</subfield><subfield code="x">Effets physiologiques.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Plantes médicinales</subfield><subfield code="x">Analyse.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Phytothérapie.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">HEALTH & FITNESS</subfield><subfield code="x">Herbal Medications.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Medicinal plants</subfield><subfield code="x">Analysis</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Spices</subfield><subfield code="x">Therapeutic use</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Aggarwal, Bharat B.,</subfield><subfield code="d">1950-</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjDpYVVBx8yKGjRfjWVgrq</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n89222066</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Kunnumakkara, Ajaikumar B.</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjD3C7KYcdtVyXtDvk3ytX</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2009183983</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Molecular targets and therapeutic uses of spices.</subfield><subfield code="d">Singapore ; Hackensack, NJ : World Scientific, ©2009</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2010286060</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=305276</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH24686192</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL477099</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10361579</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">305276</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">244296</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">3161712</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
