Zusammenfassung: | Annotation An important part of this book is devoted to the description of homogenous systems, such as electron gas in different dimensions, the quantum well in an intense magnetic field, liquid helium and nuclear matter. However, the most relevant part is dedicated to the study of finite systems: metallic clusters, quantum dots, the condensate of cold and diluted atoms in magnetic traps, helium drops and nuclei. The book focuses on methods of getting good numerical approximations to energies and linear response based on approximations to first-principles Hamiltonians. These methods are illustrated and applied to Bose and Fermi systems at zero and finite temperature. Modern Many-Particle Physics is directed towards students who have taken a conventional course in quantum mechanics and possess a basic understanding of condensed matter phenomena. |

Modern Many-Particle Physics is directed towards students who have taken a conventional course in quantum mechanics and possess a basic understanding of condensed matter phenomena.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Many-body problem</subfield><subfield code="x">Approximation methods.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2001005455</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Solid state physics.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85124640</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Many-body problem.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85080793</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Approximation theory.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85006190</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Problème des N corps.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Théorie de l'approximation.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Physique de l'état solide.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Problème des N corps</subfield><subfield code="x">Méthodes des approximations.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Physics</subfield><subfield code="x">Condensed Matter.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Many-body problem</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Approximation theory</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Many-body problem</subfield><subfield code="x">Approximation methods</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Solid state physics</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Modern many-particle physics (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCG7yWhBw4tKJpGp8fkJp8C</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Lipparini, Enrico.</subfield><subfield code="t">Modern many-particle physics.</subfield><subfield code="d">River Edge, N.J. : World Scientific, ©2003</subfield><subfield code="z">981238345X</subfield><subfield code="z">9789812383457</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)54343086</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=235705</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH24685293</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest Ebook Central</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL1681234</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">235705</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2895803</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Annotation An important part of this book is devoted to the description of homogenous systems, such as electron gas in different dimensions, the quantum well in an intense magnetic field, liquid helium and nuclear matter.
