Zusammenfassung: | The book challenges the conventional notion of Markedness- a very central albeit controversial concept in linguistic theory. The authors investigate the structural representation of a selection of semantic categories in a sample of some 100 varieties of Romani, which have been separated and dispersed throughout Europe during the past six centuries. Generalizations are made on the kind of structural changes that are attested in the sample, and the extent to which certain semantic-conceptual values are found to be 'marked' or 'unmarked', following a series of criteria, and a new, 'dynamic' model. |

Concluding remarks.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="520" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">The book challenges the conventional notion of Markedness- a very central albeit controversial concept in linguistic theory. The authors investigate the structural representation of a selection of semantic categories in a sample of some 100 varieties of Romani, which have been separated and dispersed throughout Europe during the past six centuries. Generalizations are made on the kind of structural changes that are attested in the sample, and the extent to which certain semantic-conceptual values are found to be 'marked' or 'unmarked', following a series of criteria, and a new, 'dynamic' model.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Romani language</subfield><subfield code="x">Markedness.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Romani language</subfield><subfield code="x">Dialects.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Markedness (Linguistics)</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85081324</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Tsigane (Langue)</subfield><subfield code="x">Marque.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Tsigane (Langue)</subfield><subfield code="x">Dialectes.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Marque (Linguistique)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDY</subfield><subfield code="x">Indic Languages.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Markedness (Linguistics)</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Romani language</subfield><subfield code="x">Dialects</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Gemarkeerdheid (taalkunde)</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Taalverandering.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Zigeunertalen.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Language Change.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Markedness.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Romani language.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Electronic book.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Matras, Yaron,</subfield><subfield code="d">1963-</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJjXm68hQ7JbqGwT8rJkXd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n95031006</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Elšik, Viktor.</subfield><subfield code="t">Markedness and language change.</subfield><subfield code="d">Berlin ; New York : Mouton de Gruyter, ©2006</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2005036353</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Empirical approaches to language typology ;</subfield><subfield code="v">32.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=209835</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH25307469</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL325597</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10197206</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">209835</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2771674</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Internet Archive</subfield><subfield code="b">INAR</subfield><subfield code="n">markednesslangua0000elsi</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
