Zusammenfassung: | "In the French Camargue - the delta surrounding the mouth of the Rhone River and part of the southern "nation" of Occitania - the bull is a powerful icon of nationalism, literature, and culture. How this came to be - how the Camargue bull came to confront the French cock, venerable symbol of a unified and republican France - is the story told in this study. Robert Zaretsky considers how in fin-de-siecle France the young writer Folco de Baroncelli, inspired by the history of the American West, in particular the fate of the Oglala Sioux and other Native American peoples, reinvented the history of Occitania. Galvanized by the example set by Buffalo Bill Cody, Baroncelli recast the Camargue as "le far-west" of France, creating the "immemorial" traditions he battled to protect."--Jacket |

Galvanized by the example set by Buffalo Bill Cody, Baroncelli recast the Camargue as "le far-west" of France, creating the "immemorial" traditions he battled to protect."--Jacket</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Baroncelli, Folco de,</subfield><subfield code="d">1869-1943</subfield><subfield code="x">Views on regionalism.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Baroncelli, Folco de,</subfield><subfield code="d">1869-1943.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Baroncelli, Folco de,</subfield><subfield code="d">1869-1943</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJmP7bGPDxhhxKfdQHG8md</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Camargue (France)</subfield><subfield code="x">History.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Camargue (France)</subfield><subfield code="x">Social life and customs.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Regionalism</subfield><subfield code="z">France.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85112374</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Cowboys</subfield><subfield code="z">France</subfield><subfield code="z">Camargue.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Camargue (France)</subfield><subfield code="x">Histoire.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Camargue (France)</subfield><subfield code="x">Murs et coutumes.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Régionalisme</subfield><subfield code="z">France.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Cowboys</subfield><subfield code="z">France</subfield><subfield code="z">Camargue.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">HISTORY.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Cowboys</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Manners and customs</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Regionalism</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">France</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJd8gD4vdtqQMdQHvYqbBP</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">France</subfield><subfield code="z">Camargue</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">History</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Zaretsky, Robert, 1955-</subfield><subfield code="t">Cock & bull stories.</subfield><subfield code="d">Lincoln : University of Nebraska Press, 2004</subfield><subfield code="z">0803249209</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2003017905</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)52858380</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=103480</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL4840097</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">103480</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Project MUSE</subfield><subfield code="b">MUSE</subfield><subfield code="n">muse11710</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2341255</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
