Zusammenfassung:In 1995, the Bayerisches Wirtschaftsarchiv took over substantial parts of the records of the art dealer Julius Böhler in Munich, founded in 1882, as well as those of the Kunsthandel AG in Lucerne, which had been associated with it since 1919. The surviving business books (in particular the stock books) record all the objects traded in Munich from 1893 to 1992 and in Lucerne from 1919 to 1976. The Munich business correspondence from 1931 to 1977 has been preserved almost in its entirety and in many cases provides more detailed information about the transactions conducted with collectors, dealers and museums. The surviving correspondence of the Lucerne company, on the other hand, has large gaps. The object index cards available via Böhler re:search relate almost exclusively to objects acquired from 1919 onwards. Information on the vast majority of objects previously traded by Julius Böhler can only be found in the stock books.
