Summary:This picture book deals with gods and spirits that catch evil spirits. It introduces imaginary animals and spirits that appear in Korean legends, myths, and folktales. You can meet various gods and spirits, from the familiar Haetae and Cheongryong to the slightly unfamiliar Cheongu and Oduguisin. You can also learn about the characteristics of each spirit and how they subdue ghosts. Since ancient times, our ancestors have used various methods to exorcise ghosts. They drew pictures of gods and spirits in 《Odubangjeong Ghost Exorcism Method》 and hung them inside their houses, or carved them on pagodas or roof tiles. To drive away evil spirits that hate the color red, they made red bean porridge on the winter solstice and put red balsam water on their fingernails. Also, when a baby was born, they hung red peppers on a gold string. These methods have been passed down as a tradition to this day.
