Summary:This work proposes a tour of the Convent of Actopan, in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico. As a whole, the artistic and historical richness of the building is observed in the context of the Mezquital Valley, which allows the reader to understand the structure and function of the convent. From the perspective of New Spain, the edition is coordinated by Luis Gabriel Rivera Madrid; The content includes the participation of specialists in the field, presents several explorations with perspectives that mark interesting stories about the life of the monument. The studies were presented in the 1st Simposio de Arquitectura Novohispana: civil y religiosa, held in September 2017 at the Ex Convento de San Nicolás de Tolentino, in Actopan, and where experts in history, architecture, engineering, art history and conservation participated. Throughout the ten chapters, each speaker will relate their research and opinion on 16th-century architecture and mural painting in Actopan. The book shows a broad vision of convent studies in one of the most interesting regions of Mexico.
