Zusammenfassung: | "This book explores the creative women of the "Lost Generation" including painters, sculptors, film makers, writers, singers, composers, dancers, and impresarios who all pursued artistic careers in the years leading up to, during, and following World War I. These women's stories, and the art they created, commissioned, mobilized as propaganda, and performed shed light on the shifting nature of gender norms during this period. With the combined knowledge and expertise from different contributors, chapters in this book consider how modernist practices continued their development in women's hands during the war through networks forged by and for women artists in the absence of their male colleagues. These chapters also reflect on how, in many cases, the dissolution of these structures after the November 1918 armistice had detrimental consequences for their professional trajectories. This book challenges the place creative women currently hold in the historical record while also clarifying how these artists and impresarios contributed to wartime and post-war culture. This collection of essays will be of great value to scholars interested in social and gender history of the twentieth century, as well as historians of the arts through offering nuanced understanding of the essential work of female creative professionals, highlighting artistic women's experiences of resistance, mourning, and reinvention in the shadow of the Great War"-- |

This collection of essays will be of great value to scholars interested in social and gender history of the twentieth century, as well as historians of the arts through offering nuanced understanding of the essential work of female creative professionals, highlighting artistic women's experiences of resistance, mourning, and reinvention in the shadow of the Great War"-- Women artists DLC World War, 1914-1918 Art and the war DLC Arts and society History 20th century DLC Kreativität (DE-588)4032903-3 gnd rswk-swf Schriftstellerin (DE-588)4053311-6 gnd rswk-swf Erster Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079163-4 gnd rswk-swf Malerin (DE-588)4037223-6 gnd rswk-swf Komponistin (DE-588)4032010-8 gnd rswk-swf Künstlerin (DE-588)4033430-2 gnd rswk-swf Bildhauerin (DE-588)4294734-0 gnd rswk-swf Geschlechterrolle (DE-588)4071776-8 gnd rswk-swf Nachkriegszeit (DE-588)4421423-6 gnd rswk-swf Propaganda (DE-588)4076374-2 gnd rswk-swf Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 gnd rswk-swf Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 gnd rswk-swf Geschichtsschreibung (DE-588)4020531-9 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Künstlerin (DE-588)4033430-2 s Malerin (DE-588)4037223-6 s Bildhauerin (DE-588)4294734-0 s Komponistin (DE-588)4032010-8 s Schriftstellerin (DE-588)4053311-6 s Geschichtsschreibung (DE-588)4020531-9 s DE-604 Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 s Propaganda (DE-588)4076374-2 s Erster Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079163-4 s Nachkriegszeit (DE-588)4421423-6 s Geschlechterrolle (DE-588)4071776-8 s Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 s Kreativität (DE-588)4032903-3 s Irvine, Margot (DE-588)1185120335 edt Francis, Kimberly A. 1979- (DE-588)1076127568 edt ebook 9781003346517 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe Creative women of the "lost generation" New York : Routledge, 2024 9781003346517 |
