Summary:Tarsila do Amaral is, without a doubt, one of the exponents of Brazilian modern art. Born in Capivari, São Paulo, in 1886, Tarsila was a painter, draughtsman and sculptor. He was part of the Modern Art Week in 1922 and, alongside names such as Mário de Andrade, Oswald de Andrade, Menotti Del Picchia and Anita Malfatti, founded the Group of Five. Exponent of Brazilian Modernism, Tarsila knew how to synthesize, in a unique way, the plurality of the universe of national culture. With an enchanting work full of vivacity, she established herself among the great plastic artists of Brazil, being recognized in the country and also abroad. With paintings of multiple shades, Tarsila brought through the brush faces never before revealed from Brazil, portraying its landscapes, animals, plants and, of course, its people. Among his most famous paintings are "Abaporu" and "Operários". The book provides the reader with a privileged opportunity to learn about the trajectory and works of this artist whose work is deeply linked to the formation of Brazilian identities.
