| Zusammenfassung: | Les résidus solides de la combustion issus de l’industrie comme de l’incinération des ordures ménagères sont désignés par un même terme : les « mâchefers ». Ils ont en commun d’avoir subi l’épreuve du feu avant de devenir déchets. Pourtant leurs propriétés comme leurs usages diffèrent depuis le xviiie siècle. Les premiers ont disparu à la fin du xxe siècle. Les seconds se sont au contraire accumulés depuis. Ce sont eux que l’on souhaite aujourd’hui convertir en matériaux recyclables. Leur usage se heurte toutefois à la réticence des publics. On s’interroge ici sur leurs perceptions tout au long de l’industrialisation et jusqu’à nos jours, considérant qu’elles fondent en partie le rejet des mâchefers et leur relégation parmi les matières immondes. On explore ainsi la variété des représentations dont le mâchefer est l’objet au travers de la production culturelle et des manifestations de son existence ordinaire. However, both only have in common to have undergone the treatment of fire before becoming ultimate wastes. Indeed, their properties and their uses have deeply differed since the 18th century. The former virtually disappeared at the end of the 20th century. Conversely, the latter have accumulated since. They are the ones that the industrialists wish today to turn into raw materials. However, their use comes up against the reluctance of public. Here we examine the perception that people have throughout industrialization and up to the present day of these clinkers, considering that this is partly the basis for their rejection and their relegation among sinful materials. To this end, this article explores the variety of representations about mâchefer through the way it appears among ordinary cultures and more generally cultural production. |
