Item Description:Since Russia's annexation of Crimea in March 2014, Ukraine has not developed a coherent political strategy for the region. Moreover, the peninsula is treated by Kyiv as an actual trade partner. Only the Crimean Tatars and radicals from the Right Sector, who began blocking food transport to the area to try to end the passivity of the government, seem to acknowledge the problem with that strategy. The occupation of Crimea remains a part of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Therefore, even if the recovery of the region is currently unrealistic, Kyiv should pursue a policy of isolation of the authorities in Simferopol, and the EU should support Ukraine by maintaining the sanctions against Russia, regardless of developments in Donbass
