Zusammenfassung:"The party of the "Generation 80" corresponded to the euphoric atmosphere of a country coming out of the dictatorship and seeking to rebuild itself taking into account the principles that are elementary to democratic practice. After so long, the weak civil society was organized, and the economic crisis forced the military to pass power to those who were rightfully in charge. The state elections of 1982 seem to insinuate the existence of a light at the end of the tunnel." The Generation 80 wanted to be popular, and to be populist, they wanted to do art everywhere, on every place, painting the galleries, the discotheques, creating scenography, intervening art spaces, participating in collective exhibitions. Leonilson's exhibition at the gallery Tomas Cohn, in 1983, was the business card that determined the postulates of this generation. Leonilson created drawings and paintings with great figurative appeal. He was the spokesperson for diversity, for a confessional, intimate art that, speaking of itself, its problems and its issues, reached an international and collective level. Leonilson was that main reference, and his recognition is more than deserved. He was the synthesis of the creativity of Brazilian art of the 1980s. Edition includes brief biographies of the members of the "Geração 80": José Leonilson Bezerra Diaz, Leda Catunda, Nuno Ramos, Adir Sodré, Alex Vallauri, Chico Cunha, Ciro Cozzolino, Daniel Senise, Fernando Barata, Gervane de Paula, Gonçalo Ivo, Hilton Berredo, Jorge Guinle, Luiz Zerbini, Sergio Romagnolo and Beatriz Milhaze.
