Zusammenfassung:The exhibition "Carimbos" [Stamps] brings an important selection of artist Carmela Gross (b. 1946) art production, which had the stamp as a medium and language. Produced over two years, from 1977 to 1978, the process culminated in the exhibition held in the gallery Gabinete de Artes Gráficas, in São Paulo. The exhibition, curated by Ricardo Resende, presented more than 300 items through which it is possible to understand the creation process and the concepts behind her work. In her previous works, between sign and writing, Gross had achieved graphic and textural solutions through her exploration of space. In this current phase, what is now predominant is the repetition of identical graphic signals, artworks focused on two-dimensional representations in drawings, photocopies, mail art, and stamps as in the 1978 series "Carimbos" (Stamps). The exhibitied collection, consisting of stamps, studies, graphic materials and documents, will be donated to the IAC after the exhibition is closed.
