SUMMARY The term “hafiz” was formed by the verb of Arabic language hafiza that means to learn by heart, to memorize a text. Concretely, here it means to learn by heart Kur ani Kerim. Hafiz is the one who knows by heart all the text of the Islamic Holy book Kur ani Kerim, which has 600 pages of the B-5 format. The origin of hifz comes from the time of Pejgamber Muhammed a.s., (p.h.) the seventh century. In other words it begins from the time of the announce of Kur an. It has been cultivated during the entire history, till our days, in the entire Islamic world. This book has been learned by heart by the Albanians, starting from the XVIII century. The book Lexicon of the Hafizes, is dedicated to those that have learned Kur an by heart. Here are presented about 1000 (one thousand) hafizes. We have started from the seventeenth century up to the twentieth century. The territorial layout covers all the Albanian area, starting from Manastir - Macedonia and going up to Podgorica Montenegro. Here the differences are made according to the actual state boarders, they are not devided into the states as: Macedonia, Kosova, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Sanxhak, etc. An effort has been made here to include all the hafizes of these areas and for this purpose we have investigated a range of publications: books and periodicals of different periods of time, form the twenties of the XX century until now. 315
We have also used live memories, by people of different ages. These recollections were verified more than once. For the period of these days we have presented the valid official documentation of the institutions, where the grade of hafiz has been awarded. According to the investigations that we have done, we have concluded that the country that has the highest number of the hafizes of Kur ani Kerim is Tetova - Republic of Macedonia. In this lexicon there are presented the data for each hafiz, according to a preliminary set criteria. We have brought, where possible, the portraits of hafiz as well. In this lexicon there is presented the age of the hafiz, the age when they did the hifzi (learned Kur an by heart). There are hafizes of the age of 8, 10, 15, as well as of the age of 25-30. There can also be seen the system of learning Kur ani Kerim by heart, the gender of the hafiz, the period of memorizing Kur an that lasts from 9 months up to 2 years. These are evidences of an Islamic tradition through centuries and the respect of Albanian opinion towards Kur ani Kerim. We hope that with this edition we have fulfilled a piece of our obligation towards our hafizes, who have conducted this tradition up to our days. 316

SUMMARY The term “hafiz” was formed by the verb of Arabic language "hafiza" that means to learn by heart, to memorize a text. Concretely, here it means to learn by heart Kur'ani Kerim. Hafiz is the one who knows by heart all the text of the Islamic Holy book Kur'ani Kerim, which has 600 pages of the B-5 format. The origin of hifz comes from the time of Pejgamber Muhammed a.s., (p.h.) the seventh century. In other words it begins from the time of the announce of Kur' an. It has been cultivated during the entire history, till our days, in the entire Islamic world. This book has been learned by heart by the Albanians, starting from the XVIII century. The book Lexicon of the Hafizes, is dedicated to those that have learned Kur an by heart. Here are presented about 1000 (one thousand) hafizes. We have started from the seventeenth century up to the twentieth century. The territorial layout covers all the Albanian area, starting from Manastir - Macedonia and going up to Podgorica Montenegro. Here the differences are made according to the actual state boarders, they are not devided into the states as: Macedonia, Kosova, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Sanxhak, etc. An effort has been made here to include all the hafizes of these areas and for this purpose we have investigated a range of publications: books and periodicals of different periods of time, form the twenties of the XX century until now. 315
We have also used live memories, by people of different ages. These recollections were verified more than once. For the period of these days we have presented the valid official documentation of the institutions, where the grade of hafiz has been awarded. According to the investigations that we have done, we have concluded that the country that has the highest number of the hafizes of Kur'ani Kerim is Tetova - Republic of Macedonia. In this lexicon there are presented the data for each hafiz, according to a preliminary set criteria. We have brought, where possible, the portraits of hafiz as well. In this lexicon there is presented the age of the hafiz, the age when they did the hifzi (learned Kur'an by heart). There are hafizes of the age of 8, 10, 15, as well as of the age of 25-30. There can also be seen the system of learning Kur ani Kerim by heart, the gender of the hafiz, the period of memorizing Kur an that lasts from 9 months up to 2 years. These are evidences of an Islamic tradition through centuries and the respect of Albanian opinion towards Kur'ani Kerim. We hope that with this edition we have fulfilled a piece of our obligation towards our hafizes, who have conducted this tradition up to our days. 316 |
