Zusammenfassung: | "French composers, performers and musicologists acted as editors of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European 'classics', primarily for piano. Among these editors were Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Ravel and Dukas; the objects of their enquiries included core works by Rameau, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Chopin. Presenting six composer-editor case studies, the volume shows that the French 'accent', both musical and cultural, upon this predominantly Austro-German music was highly varied. Editorial responses range from scholarly approaches to those directed by performance or compositional agendas, and from pan-European to strongly patriotic stances. Intriguing intersections are revealed between old and new, and between French and cross-European canons. Beyond editing, the book explores the Édition's role in pedagogy and performance, including by pianists Robert Casadesus and Yvonne Loriod, and in the reassertion of contemporary French composition, especially regarding innovation around neoclassicism. It will interest a wide readership, including musicologists, performers and concert-goers, cultural historians and other humanities scholars." -- From the publisher's website |

Kelly Part III. Beyond editing: pedagogy, performance, composition -- The édition classique in action: pedagogy and performance Rachel Moore and Barbara L. Kelly The édition classique and French neoclassicism: L'École moderne as exemplar, appendix: alphabetical tabulation of composers and pieces Deborah Mawer "French composers, performers and musicologists acted as editors of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European 'classics', primarily for piano. It will interest a wide readership, including musicologists, performers and concert-goers, cultural historians and other humanities scholars." -- From the publisher's website Geschichte 1915-1925 gnd rswk-swf Musikalische Aufführungspraxis (DE-588)4170800-3 gnd rswk-swf Komponist (DE-588)4032009-1 gnd rswk-swf Edition (DE-588)4132033-5 gnd rswk-swf Klassische Musik (DE-588)4164043-3 gnd rswk-swf Musikmarkt (DE-588)4396689-5 gnd rswk-swf Frankreich (DE-588)4018145-5 gnd rswk-swf Music publishing / France / History / 20th century Music / Editing / Case studies Music / 18th century / History and criticism Music / 19th century / History and criticism Music Music / Editing Music publishing France 1700-1999 Case studies Criticism, interpretation, etc History (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Frankreich (DE-588)4018145-5 g Komponist (DE-588)4032009-1 s Klassische Musik (DE-588)4164043-3 s Musikmarkt (DE-588)4396689-5 s Edition (DE-588)4132033-5 s Musikalische Aufführungspraxis (DE-588)4170800-3 s Geschichte 1915-1925 z DE-604 Kelly, Barbara ca. 20./21.
