Zusammenfassung: | "This book explores individual perspectives and specific iterations of Muslim community, Muslim practice and experience of Islam in the Himalayan region as well as the concept of the general Islamic community the Ummah. A multidisciplinary analysis of Muslim communities and historical and contemporary Islamicate traditions, the book shows how Muslims understand and mobilize regional identities and religious expressions. Moreover, it assesses regional interactions, the ways in which institutions shape Muslim practices in specific areas and investigates the notion of the Himalayas as an Islamic space. The book suggests that the regional focus on the Himalayas provides a site of both geographic and cultural crossroads where Muslim community is simultaneously constituted at multiple social levels. As a result, chapters document a wide range of local, national, and global interests while maintaining a focus on individual perspectives, moments in time, and localized experiences. This book draws attention to the cultural, social, artistic, and political diversity of the Himalaya beyond the better-understood and frequently documented religio-cultural expressions of the region. It will be of interest to academics in the fields of anthropology, geography, history, religious studies, Asian Studies, and Islamic Studies"-- |

A multidisciplinary analysis of Muslim communities and historical and contemporary Islamicate traditions, the book shows how Muslims understand and mobilize regional identities and religious expressions. It will be of interest to academics in the fields of anthropology, geography, history, religious studies, Asian Studies, and Islamic Studies"-- Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 gnd rswk-swf Umma Religion (DE-588)4426061-1 gnd rswk-swf Muslim (DE-588)4040921-1 gnd rswk-swf Himalaja (DE-588)4024923-2 gnd rswk-swf Islam / Himalaya Mountains Region Muslims / Himalaya Mountains Region / Case studies Islam / Relations / Hinduism Hinduism / Relations / Islam (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Himalaja (DE-588)4024923-2 g Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 s Muslim (DE-588)4040921-1 s Umma Religion (DE-588)4426061-1 s DE-604 Fewkes, Jacqueline 1973- (DE-588)1147091099 edt Sijapati, Megan Adamson (DE-588)113787385X edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-0-429-26504-4 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-0-429-56006-4 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-0-429-55559-6 Routledge South Asian religion series 15 (DE-604)BV022489600 15 V:DE-576;B:DE-16 application/pdf https://swbplus.bsz-bw.de/bsz1725631156inh.htm 20210413193102 Inhaltsverzeichnis V:DE-576;B:DE-21 application/pdf https://swbplus.bsz-bw.de/bsz1725631156kla.htm 20210630193300 Klappentext Digitalisierung UB Bamberg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034066695&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
