Summary:The Keystone Studios were founded in Glendale, California in 1912 by Mack Sennett (1880-1960) and soon became famous for a chaotic style of slapstick humour, often featuring wild car chases and custard pie capers. Sennett's two biggest stars at Keystone were Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle (1887-1933) and Mabel Normand (1892-1930) who feature here in this collection of classic silent comedy films. [www.play.com]
Mabel Normand was the greatest comedienne of the silent screen era ... She filmed a series of popular short films with Fatty Arbuckle. Sennett established the Mabel Normand Feature Film Company to allow Mabel the freedom to make more feature films. She was thoroughly professional during these years, taking all the knocks and bruises herself which come with slapstick comedy, rarely using stunt doubles. [www.goldensilents.com]
