In Teilen heutiger Systematischer Theologie spielen religionsphilosophische Reflexionen eine größere Rolle als die Texte der Bibel. Die Studien des vorliegenden Bandes begreifen Bibelexegese als theologisches Unterfangen, das historische und systematische Fragestellungen vereint, und Systematische Theologie als konsequenter Exegese. So vielstimmig, spannungsreich und bisweilen widersprüchlich die in den biblischen Schriften zu vernehmenden Stimmen auch klingen mögen, weisen sie doch über sich hinaus auf einen Konvergenzpunkt, der mit dem Wort "Gott" benannt wird. One of the reasons is the rehabilitation of historicism. In parts of contemporary systematic theology, reflections on the philosophy of religion play a greater role than the texts of the Bible.
