| Item Description: | Premiered by the Talea Ensemble; Eduardo Leandro, conductor.Kav Yankıları-Echoes of Tinder is written on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Sivas massacre that took place in the city of Sivas, Turkey, which targeted thirty-three people, including some of the prominent intellectuals and artists of the country. The tragedy is reflected into the music in a multi-dimensional manner. A linear narrative that is based on the unfolding of the event co-exists with a non-narrative, purely structural usage of the signs, metaphors and images related to the tragedy. In a sense, the piece can be thought as a study of deriving musical material from extra-musical material |
