Zusammenfassung: | After Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, and Carmen, Mats Ek put together yet another groundbreaking production with his 2013 Stockholm Opera version of Shakespeare's mythic drama, part of the opera company's celebrations of its 240th anniversary. The Swedish choreographer interprets Romeo and Juliet as less the story of a rivalry between two warring families (the Montagues and the Capulets) and more that of a forced marriage--a perspective that informs his decision to reverse the protagonists' names in the title. Ek's Juliet and Romeo follows its fragile young heroine as love gives her the strength to go against her family and the patriarchy. The musical score Ek chose for Juliet and Romeo holds as many surprises as his unique interpretation: rather than Prokofiev's score--which the choreographer considers "a magnificent example of its genre" yet too narrative-driven for his purposes--Ek uses selections from Tchaikovsky's oeuvre adapted and arranged by Anders Högstedt. The final score is performed by the Orchestre Colonne under the direction of Alexander Polianichko |

The final score is performed by the Orchestre Colonne under the direction of Alexander Polianichko Ballets Romeo / (Fictitious character) / Drama Juliet / (Fictitious character) / Drama Romeo / (Fictitious character) Juliet / (Fictitious character) Drama Filmed ballets Internet videos Ek, Mats Sonstige oth Tchaikovsky, Peter Ilich 1840-1893 Sonstige oth Grimm, Thomas 1942- Sonstige oth Stassak, Judit Sonstige oth Fleischer, Bernhard Sonstige oth Kida, Mariko Sonstige oth Lomuljo, Anthony Sonstige oth Mehrabyan, Arsen Sonstige oth Lindqvist, Marie Sonstige oth Ek, Niklas Sonstige oth Laguna, Ana Sonstige oth Marchand, Jérôme (Dancer) Sonstige oth Kodama, Hokuto Sonstige oth Jansson, Pascal Sonstige oth Salomonsson, Oscar Sonstige oth Ivanova, Daria Sonstige oth Stövind, Jörgen Sonstige oth Högstedt, Anders Sonstige oth Åberg, Magdalena Sonstige oth Öhman, Johannes 1967- Sonstige oth Poli͡anichko, Aleksandr Sonstige oth Lundin, Bengt-Åke Sonstige oth Fellbom, Linus Sonstige oth Dauterich, Janine Sonstige oth Shakespeare, William 1564-1616 Romeo and Juliet Kungliga Baletten (Stockholm, Sweden) Sonstige oth Kungliga Hovkapellet Sonstige oth Kungliga Teatern (Stockholm, Sweden) Sonstige oth Bernhard Fleischer Moving Images (Firm) Sonstige oth Sveriges television Sonstige oth Kungliga Operan (Stockholm, Sweden) Sonstige oth C Major Entertainment GmbH Sonstige oth Juliet & Romeo (Choreographic work : Ek) https://edu.medici.tv/en/ballets/mats-ek-juliet-romeo Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext digital rdatr video file rdaft |
