This enchanting program highlights the musical bond of two stars of the piano who shine during this night at the opera: pianists Brigitte Engerer and Boris Berezovsky. With The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and Prince Igor, they give a tribute to a Russian repertoire they particularly like. Both studied at the Moscow Conservatory. This is also the occasion to rediscover Mozart's The Magic Flute in Ferruccio Busoni's sophisticated transcription, in addition to Franz Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1. -- Of course, the composer himself was a great transcriber of his own works. For the finale of this concert, they perform Khachaturian's Masquerade for two pianos, which originally was music for stage.
