Summary:Every year, the finest musicians descend on Stockholm to pay tribute to the laureates of the Nobel Prize. A highlight of this series was the concert of 2009, when Martha Argerich performed Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with Yuri Temirkanov leading the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. This score is indeed one of the pianist's best loved works. She performs it with her regular enthusiasm and energy. The program also features the two suites that come from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, the composer's ballet composed after Shakespeare's play. When fist performed, the ballet was considered impossible to dance in by the dancers, who blamed the score's difficult rhythms. Prokofiev then re-wrote the three acts, and it was these which became those suites for orchestra in seven movements
