Zusammenfassung: | In an ideal world, primary education would be universal and publicly financed, and all children would be able to attend school regardless of their parents' ability or willingness to pay. In many poor countries, however, governments lack either the financial resources or the political will to provide each child with a basic education, despite the benefits that would accrue not only to individuals but to society as a whole. In some of these countries, parents cover part or all of the cost of their children's education. This paper explores the pros and cons of user payments |
Beschreibung: | "Published March 2004"--title page verso. - Master and use copy. Digital master created according to Benchmark for Faithful Digital Reproductions of Monographs and Serials, Version 1. Digital Library Federation, December 2002 The problem in many developing countries is that governments lack either the financial resources or the political will to meet their citizens' educational needs. In response, poor parents in some low income countries have organized and paid for their children's education themselves. It is true that school fees and other user payments are a heavy burden for some parents to bear. But, given the alternative - children receiving no education at all - such payments can represent a temporary, if less than ideal, solution to the problem.--publisher's description |

International Monetary Fund 2004 1 Online-Ressource (17 Seiten) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Economic Issues No. 33 1020-5098 "Published March 2004"--title page verso. But, given the alternative - children receiving no education at all - such payments can represent a temporary, if less than ideal, solution to the problem.--publisher's description In an ideal world, primary education would be universal and publicly financed, and all children would be able to attend school regardless of their parents' ability or willingness to pay. In many poor countries, however, governments lack either the financial resources or the political will to provide each child with a basic education, despite the benefits that would accrue not only to individuals but to society as a whole. In some of these countries, parents cover part or all of the cost of their children's education. This paper explores the pros and cons of user payments Online-Ausg Onderwijs gtt Armoede gtt EDUCATION / Aims & Objectives bisacsh Education and state fast Education, Elementary fast Poor children / Education / Finance fast User charges fast Entwicklungsländer Erziehung Unterricht Poor children Education Finance Education, Elementary Developing countries Education and state Developing countries User charges Developing countries Hillman, Arye L. 1947- Sonstige (DE-588)114054754 oth Jenkner, Eva Sonstige (DE-588)1064680216 oth Internationaler Währungsfonds Sonstige (DE-588)1013082-2 oth Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 1-589-06243-4 978-1-589-06243-6 http://elibrary.imf.org/view/IMF051/01993-9781589062436/01993-9781589062436/01993-9781589062436.xml Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
