Zusammenfassung: | Situating the Tudor dynasty, their court, and the country, in an international context, this book will be highly illustrated and feature contemporary research in an accessible way. It will provide an overview of the ways in which the Tudors engaged with the world and were impacted by broader currents: the internationalism of court culture, religious shifts, trade, naval conflict and the expansion in the Americas. The introductory text will consider the legacies of the Tudors, as the monarchs who reigned during the tumultuous years of the Reformation and the emergence of the transatlantic slave trade and English colonialism. Taking a thematic and biographical approach, the book will feature some of the most famous royal and court figures from the sixteenth century, from Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell, to Elizabeth I and Walter Ralegh. The works shown will be explored from a multitude of perspectives, looking at the sitters' impact at home and abroad in Europe and the Americas. The international impact of the Tudors will be very evident the portraits featured, the artists of which came from Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy. Artworks will be arranged by the key themes of: court culture, religion, queenship, conflict, empire, piracy and trade, and translation. Each theme will feature an opening text from a range of voices exploring the historical contexts of the works and new research on the topics. It will include biographical sketches of individuals whose role in Tudor history has often been overlooked, such as the trumpeter John Blanke |

It will include biographical sketches of individuals whose role in Tudor history has often been overlooked, such as the trumpeter John Blanke Tudor Familie (DE-588)118763121 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1485-1603 gnd rswk-swf Bildprogramm (DE-588)4006632-0 gnd rswk-swf Mäzenatentum (DE-588)4074442-5 gnd rswk-swf Macht (DE-588)4036824-5 gnd rswk-swf Bildnismalerei (DE-588)4145426-1 gnd rswk-swf Höfische Kunst (DE-588)4160343-6 gnd rswk-swf Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 gnd rswk-swf England (DE-588)4014770-8 gnd rswk-swf Courts and courtiers Kings and rulers Politics and government History Pictorial works Great Britain / History / Tudors, 1485-1603 Great Britain / Politics and government / 1485-1603 Great Britain / Kings and rulers / Pictorial works Great Britain / Court and courtiers / Pictorial works Great Britain (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog Holburne Museum 28.01.2022-08.05.2022 Bath gnd-content (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog Walker Art Gallery 21.05.2022-29.08.2022 Liverpool gnd-content Tudor Familie (DE-588)118763121 p Macht (DE-588)4036824-5 s Mäzenatentum (DE-588)4074442-5 s Bildprogramm (DE-588)4006632-0 s Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 s Geschichte 1485-1603 z DE-604 England (DE-588)4014770-8 g Bildnismalerei (DE-588)4145426-1 s Höfische Kunst (DE-588)4160343-6 s Bolland, Charlotte (DE-588)104968057X edt Ohajuru, Michael I. aut Smith, Frederick E. aut Doran, Susan 1948- (DE-588)14311090X aut Smith, Cassander 1977- (DE-588)1175496995 aut Kenny, Gillian aut National Portrait Gallery (London) (DE-588)1003467-5 isb Holburne Museum (DE-588)5063674-1 his Walker Art Gallery (Liverpool) (DE-588)25341-8 his Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033298475&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
