Beschreibung:The multi-vector policy, i.e. manoeuvring between the West and Russia without becoming involved in integration projects with either of them, which Ukraine had been following since it regained independence also had an economic aspect. Trade with Russia and other post-Soviet countries, the European Union and the rest of the world was equally important for Kyiv albeit for different reasons. Ukraine’s unwillingness to make binding decisions whether to establish closer co-operation with Russia or the EU was to a great extent an effect of its concern about the negative impact of this move on economic relations with the remaining areas.
