| adam_text | FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT AND THE LAW IN ZAMBIA Chipasha Mulenga LLD, LLM (Pretoria), LLB (Zambia), AHCZ, is an academic scholar who has, for the past eight years, conducted teaching and research in the field of investment law and policy. Foreign direct investment transcends domestic boundaries, raising topical issues in most jurisdictions. Though traditionally focused on protecting the interest of the investor, there has been a paradigm shift that has sought to blend in the interest of the state receiving the investment. Over the years, Zambia has been a recipient of foreign direct investment; however, it has not been able to harness the supposed benefits and this is partly due to the deficiencies in the legislative, regulatory and institutional framework. This book, Foreign Direct Investment and the Law in Zambia, is a demon stration of passion, experience and knowledge in the field of investment law. It is, therefore, a genuine attempt to comprehensively address matters relating to foreign direct investment and the law in Zambia. Hon Justice Dr Mumba Malila, SC, comments on the book: It is a well-put work and very interesting to read. This is very detailed and wide-ranging in content. It is an important, pioneering piece of work in an area of law that not many have ventured to explore so extensively. The book breaks the traditional barriers on international investment law by bringing in an aspect of domestic law.
