Zusammenfassung: | "This volume provides a unique survey of locally produced funerary representations from across regions of ancient Syria, exploring material ranging from reliefs and statues in the round, to busts, mosaics, and paintings in order to offer a new and holistic approach to our understanding of ancient funerary portraiture. Up to now, relatively little attention has been paid to the way in which local and regional production of material in this area formed part of a broader pattern of sculptural and iconographical development across the Roman Near East. By drawing on material from an area encompassing modern Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey, as well as Egypt and Achaia, the contributions in this book make it possible for the first time to take a wider perspective on the importance of funerary portraiture within Greater Roman Syria, and in doing so, to identify influences, connections, and iconographical analogies present throughout the region, as well as local differences, larger-scale boundaries, and ruptures in traditions that occurred across time and place."--Back cover |

Up to now, relatively little attention has been paid to the way in which local and regional production of material in this area formed part of a broader pattern of sculptural and iconographical development across the Roman Near East. By drawing on material from an area encompassing modern Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey, as well as Egypt and Achaia, the contributions in this book make it possible for the first time to take a wider perspective on the importance of funerary portraiture within Greater Roman Syria, and in doing so, to identify influences, connections, and iconographical analogies present throughout the region, as well as local differences, larger-scale boundaries, and ruptures in traditions that occurred across time and place."--Back cover Grabrelief (DE-588)4113779-6 gnd rswk-swf Ausgrabung (DE-588)4129464-6 gnd rswk-swf Römerzeit (DE-588)4076769-3 gnd rswk-swf Bildnis (DE-588)4006627-7 gnd rswk-swf Grabplastik (DE-588)4157984-7 gnd rswk-swf Funde (DE-588)4071507-3 gnd rswk-swf Syrien (DE-588)4058794-0 gnd rswk-swf Funeral rites and ceremonies, Ancient / Syria Funeral rites and ceremonies / Rome Sepulchral monuments / Syria / History / To 1500 Syria / Antiquities, Roman Classical antiquities Funeral rites and ceremonies Funeral rites and ceremonies, Ancient Sepulchral monuments Rome (Empire) Syria To 1500 History (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Syrien als Provinz (DE-2581)TH000004994 gbd Grabrelief, griechisch (DE-2581)TH000008303 gbd Gräber & Grabbauten (DE-2581)TH000008203 gbd Syrien (DE-588)4058794-0 g Römerzeit (DE-588)4076769-3 s Grabrelief (DE-588)4113779-6 s Grabplastik (DE-588)4157984-7 s Bildnis (DE-588)4006627-7 s Funde (DE-588)4071507-3 s Ausgrabung (DE-588)4129464-6 s DE-604 Blömer, Michael 1975- (DE-588)139592407 edt Raja, Rubina 1975- (DE-588)132028085 edt Studies in classical archaeology volume 6 (DE-604)BV043304687 6 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=031985330&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
