Zusammenfassung:With 'The Konrad Fischer Years / 1964 - 1978', Herbert Foundation pays homage to the atypical art dealer who left an undeniable mark on the early development of the Collection of Anton and Annick Herbert. In addition to the eponymous exbhibition, the publication offers a subjective reflection on Fischer's activities and role within the international art world of the 1960s and 1970s. Alongside a reprint of the first interview of Konrad Fischer in 1971 for Studio International, the publication includes a comprehensive essay by Lynda Morris and the rendition of her in-depth conversation with Benjamin H.D. Buchloh and Kasper König. Art dealer Konrad Fischer (Düsseldorf, 1939 - 1996) opened his exhibition space on 21 October 1967 with the first European solo presentation of Carl Andre. Located in a converted alley in the Neubrückstrasse in Düsseldorf, it offered a platform for emerging, international artists under the name 'Ausstellungen bei Konrad Fischer'. In the following years, Fischer would show among others Hanne Darboven, Sol LeWitt, Bruce Nauman, Richard Long, Robert Smithson, Lawrence Weiner, Gerhard Richter and Mario Merz. Through his exhibition programme, Fischer enabled contact between European and US artists and transformed Düsseldorf into an international meeting place. Exhibition: The Herbert Foundation, Ghent, Belgium (21.01.2018-02.06.2019)
In addition to the eponymous exhibition that took place from 21 January 2018 until 2 June 2019 at Herbert Foundation, the publication offers a subjective reflection on Fischer's activities and role within the international art world of the 1960s and 1970s (The Herbert Foundation homepage)
