According to scholars, the codex was assembled in Constantinople in the 10th century from an older parchment book. Hidden in it were three major treatises of the genius: the Method of mechanical theorems, the Stomachion, and On floating bodies. In 1998 this precious book was sold at auction for an astounding sum of over two million dollars
