Summary:Seriality and repetition as artistic approaches and constituent principles of a work of art’s integrity are among the most widespread of narrative forms and structuring for works of art. Both of these creative approaches encompass the aspects of temporality, duration, intervals and transitions. These are invariably conditioned on variables internal to art history and the given developmental stage of technology, but also relate to social, ideological and social context. The symposium’s aim is to trace the diverse forms that work with series and repetition can take, in the context of developmental trends in art and media analysis (forms of seriality, the difference between modern and post-modern, the influence of electronic technologies and the like).
