Summary:The Alamire Foundation, International Centre for the Study of Music in the Low Countries, was established in 1991 as a non-profit co-operative association between the Musicology section of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and Musica, Peer (now Musica, Impulscentrum voor muziek, Neerpelt). Leuven has always been the Alamire Foundation's home base. The musicologists of the Musicology Section (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, prof. Ignace Bossuyt) have been at the core of this research team since its formation. Since its creation in 1944 under Prof. René Bernard Lenaerts, this department has been the only research unit in Flanders to study the music of the polyphonists with an internationally acknowledged expertise. The Alamire Foundation aims to further develop and disseminate this expertise internationally. [gemäß den Informationen des Anbieters] / [according to site editor's information]
