Zusammenfassung: | "Beginning in the early morning hours of July 16, 1942, and lasting for two days, the French police went beyond Nazi ordinances and took it upon themselves to arrest and imprison more than 13,000 Jews at a Paris sporting arena, the Vélodrome d'Hiver. For most of the Jews, this detention without water, food, or sleep was the first horrific step toward death in the concentration camps. This uniquely detailed study of the roundup offers the only contemporary analysis of both the precursors and the aftermath of the events of those two days. Using recently opened police files, Maurice Rajsfus details the internal organization of the police, showing the mechanisms of this raid in particular and of raids in general, making the book an indispensable micro-history of the Holocaust. A companion piece to Rajsfus's Operation Yellow Star / Black Thursday (DoppelHouse Press, 2017), The Vél d'Hiv Raid includes witness and police reports, shocking excerpts from the collaborationist press, and speeches by contemporary French politicians whose official apology is still not complete and terribly overdue."--Amazon.com |

A companion piece to Rajsfus's Operation Yellow Star / Black Thursday (DoppelHouse Press, 2017), The Vél d'Hiv Raid includes witness and police reports, shocking excerpts from the collaborationist press, and speeches by contemporary French politicians whose official apology is still not complete and terribly overdue."--Amazon.com Deutsches Reich Geheime Staatspolizei (DE-588)2029665-4 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1942 gnd rswk-swf Judenverfolgung (DE-588)4028814-6 gnd rswk-swf Razzia (DE-588)4348935-7 gnd rswk-swf Kooperation (DE-588)4032386-9 gnd rswk-swf Polizei (DE-588)4046595-0 gnd rswk-swf Radrennbahn (DE-588)4226187-9 gnd rswk-swf Zweiter Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079167-1 gnd rswk-swf Deportation (DE-588)4011467-3 gnd rswk-swf Paris (DE-588)4044660-8 gnd rswk-swf Vélodrome d'hiver (Paris, France) Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) Jews / Persecutions / France Jews / France / History / 20th century World War, 1939-1945 / France Police / France / Paris France / History / German occupation, 1940-1945 Paris (France) / History Paris (DE-588)4044660-8 g Zweiter Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079167-1 s Judenverfolgung (DE-588)4028814-6 s Radrennbahn (DE-588)4226187-9 s Razzia (DE-588)4348935-7 s Deportation (DE-588)4011467-3 s Geschichte 1942 z DE-604 Polizei (DE-588)4046595-0 s Deutsches Reich Geheime Staatspolizei (DE-588)2029665-4 b Kooperation (DE-588)4032386-9 s Laub, Levi 1938- Sonstige (DE-588)1161185763 oth Warschawski, Michel 1949- (DE-588)124969399 wpr Digitalisierung BSB Muenchen - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=030019823&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
