The first three chapters present the basic hydraulic equations, including cavitation, and discuss the principles that underlie the correct performance of the impeller and casing of centrifugal pumps and the blading of axial machines. The fourth chapter outlines analytical methods for flow calculations, including special techniques used in computer aided design. The following two chapters work through two examples: the impeller and casing of a simple volute type centrifugal pump; and an axial flow pump impeller. Shafts, bearings, seals and drives are discussed in a separate chapter. The last two chapters deal with design for difficult fluids, and codes and practices
