Zusammenfassung: | Between 1979 and 1986 Iran, Nicaragua, and the Philippines underwent dramatic political and social revolutions. This book examines the conditions and processes that gave rise to revolutions and their outcomes, through an in-depth analysis of economic and political developments in these countries. The book studies the background to revolution provided by state formation and development, economic intervention, the states' vulnerabilities, and the social consequences of their development policies. Extensive primary data is used to analyze the impact of the collective actions and ideologies of the major social groups involved - students, clergy, workers, and capitalists - and how they affected the potential for a successful revolutionary outcome. Parsa challenges prevailing theories of social revolution and develops an alternative model that incorporates variables from a wide variety of perspectives. His book provides a valuable framework within which to understand the causes of revolutions, their mechanics and development, and their outcomes |

Coalitions, challengers, and political outcomes -- Summary and conclusions Between 1979 and 1986 Iran, Nicaragua, and the Philippines underwent dramatic political and social revolutions. His book provides a valuable framework within which to understand the causes of revolutions, their mechanics and development, and their outcomes Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1900-2000 gnd rswk-swf Politik Wirtschaft Revolutions / Case studies Philippinische Revolution 1896-1898 (DE-588)4235083-9 gnd rswk-swf Sozialer Wandel (DE-588)4077587-2 gnd rswk-swf Entwicklungspolitik (DE-588)4014957-2 gnd rswk-swf Revolution (DE-588)4049680-6 gnd rswk-swf Iran / Politics and government / 20th century Iran / Economic conditions / 20th century Nicaragua / Politics and government / 20th century Nicaragua / Economic conditions / 20th century Philippines / Politics and government / 20th century Philippines / Economic conditions / 20th century Iran (DE-588)4027653-3 gnd rswk-swf Nicaragua (DE-588)4042050-4 gnd rswk-swf Philippinen (DE-588)4045771-0 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4522595-3 Fallstudiensammlung gnd-content Iran (DE-588)4027653-3 g Sozialer Wandel (DE-588)4077587-2 s Revolution (DE-588)4049680-6 s Nicaragua (DE-588)4042050-4 g Philippinen (DE-588)4045771-0 g Geschichte 1900-2000 z 1\p DE-604 Philippinische Revolution 1896-1898 (DE-588)4235083-9 s Entwicklungspolitik (DE-588)4014957-2 s 2\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-77337-9 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-77430-7 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511491054 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
