Zusammenfassung: | This book represents comprehensive research into the world's Jewish press during the Second World War and explores its stance in the face of annihilation of the Jewish people by the Nazi regime in Europe. The research is based on the major Jewish newspapers that were published in four countries - Palestine, Britain, the United States and the Soviet Union - and in three languages - Hebrew, Yiddish and English. The Jewish press frequently described the situation of the Jewish people in occupied countries. It urged the Jewish leaders and institutions to act in rescue of their brethren. It protested vigorously against the refusal of the democratic leadership to recognize that the Jewish plight was unique because of the Nazi intention to annihilate Jews as a people. Yosef Gorny argues that the Jewish press was the persistent open national voice fighting on behalf of the Jewish people suffering and perishing under Nazi occupation |

Conclusion This book represents comprehensive research into the world's Jewish press during the Second World War and explores its stance in the face of annihilation of the Jewish people by the Nazi regime in Europe. Yosef Gorny argues that the Jewish press was the persistent open national voice fighting on behalf of the Jewish people suffering and perishing under Nazi occupation Gruenbaum, Yiẓḥak / 1879-1970 Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1933-1945 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1939-1945 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Jewish press / Palestine / History Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) / Press coverage / Palestine Jewish press / England / History / 20th century Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) / Press coverage / England Jewish press / United States / History / 20th century Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) / Press coverage / United States Jewish press / Soviet Union / History / 20th century Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) / Press coverage / Soviet Union Berichterstattung (DE-588)4005709-4 gnd rswk-swf Judenvernichtung (DE-588)4073091-8 gnd rswk-swf Jüdische Presse (DE-588)4384033-4 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion USA USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 gnd rswk-swf Palästina (DE-588)4044381-4 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 gnd rswk-swf Jüdische Presse (DE-588)4384033-4 s Judenvernichtung (DE-588)4073091-8 s Geschichte 1933-1945 z DE-604 Palästina (DE-588)4044381-4 g Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 g USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 g Geschichte 1939-1945 z Berichterstattung (DE-588)4005709-4 s Greenwood, Naftali trl Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-1-107-42526-2 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-1-107-01131-1 (DE-604)BV039162676 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511894909 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
