Zusammenfassung: | One of the most pressing issues confronting the multilateral trade system is the challenge posed by the rapid proliferation of preferential trade agreements. Plenty has been written about why governments might choose to negotiate preferentially or multilaterally, but until now it has been written almost exclusively from the perspective of governments. We know very little about how non-state actors view this issue of 'forum choice', nor how they position themselves to influence choices by governments about whether to emphasize PTAs or the WTO. This book addresses that issue squarely through case studies of trade policy-making and forum choice in eight developing countries: Chile, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Kenya, Jordan, Indonesia and Thailand. The case studies are based on original research by the authors, including interviews with state and non-state actors involved in the trade policy-making process in the eight countries of this study |

The case studies are based on original research by the authors, including interviews with state and non-state actors involved in the trade policy-making process in the eight countries of this study Entwicklungsländer Tariff preferences / Developing countries Trade blocs / Developing countries Non-governmental organizations / Developing countries Non-state actors (International relations) Multilateralismus (DE-588)4170711-4 gnd rswk-swf Interessenverband (DE-588)4027286-2 gnd rswk-swf Nichtstaatliche Organisation (DE-588)4131014-7 gnd rswk-swf Außenhandelspolitik (DE-588)4003841-5 gnd rswk-swf Präferenzabkommen (DE-588)7540775-9 gnd rswk-swf Entwicklungsländer (DE-588)4014954-7 gnd rswk-swf Entwicklungsländer (DE-588)4014954-7 g Außenhandelspolitik (DE-588)4003841-5 s Interessenverband (DE-588)4027286-2 s Nichtstaatliche Organisation (DE-588)4131014-7 s Multilateralismus (DE-588)4170711-4 s Präferenzabkommen (DE-588)7540775-9 s 1\p DE-604 Capling, Ann 1959- edt Low, Patrick 1949- edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-16561-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-1-107-00018-6 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511687082 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
