Zusammenfassung: | It Still Takes A Candidate serves as the only systematic, nationwide empirical account of the manner in which gender affects political ambition. Based on data from the Citizen Political Ambition Panel Study, a national survey conducted of almost 3,800 'potential candidates' in 2001 and a second survey of more than 2,000 of these same individuals in 2008, Jennifer L. Lawless and Richard L. Fox find that women, even in the highest tiers of professional accomplishment, are substantially less likely than men to demonstrate ambition to seek elective office. Women are less likely than men to be recruited to run for office. They are less likely than men to think they are qualified to run for office. And they are less likely than men to express a willingness to run for office in the future. This gender gap in political ambition persists across generations and over time |

Variable coding It Still Takes A Candidate serves as the only systematic, nationwide empirical account of the manner in which gender affects political ambition. This gender gap in political ambition persists across generations and over time Frau Women / Political activity / United States Political participation / United States Women political candidates / United States Women / United States / Attitudes Sex role / United States Kandidatin (DE-588)4350845-5 gnd rswk-swf Politische Beteiligung (DE-588)4076215-4 gnd rswk-swf Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 gnd rswk-swf Rekrutierung (DE-588)4177658-6 gnd rswk-swf Einstellung (DE-588)4013943-8 gnd rswk-swf Politikerin (DE-588)4175019-6 gnd rswk-swf Geschlechterrolle (DE-588)4071776-8 gnd rswk-swf USA USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Politische Beteiligung (DE-588)4076215-4 s Geschlechterrolle (DE-588)4071776-8 s Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 s Einstellung (DE-588)4013943-8 s 1\p DE-604 Politikerin (DE-588)4175019-6 s Kandidatin (DE-588)4350845-5 s Rekrutierung (DE-588)4177658-6 s 2\p DE-604 Fox, Richard Logan Sonstige oth Lawless, Jennifer L. 1975- Sonstige oth Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-17924-9 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-76252-6 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511778797 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
