Zusammenfassung:This one-volume Sanskrit–English dictionary, first published in 1891, is an English version of the seven-volume Sanskrit-Worterbuch, published at St Petersburg between 1852 and 1875, and contains about 50,000 entries. The aim of the editor, Carl Cappeller, was to provide a glossary for Sanskrit texts which were at the time becoming available in printed editions in Europe, particularly 'such works as are most appreciated and studied by every friend of Sanskrit literature'. The dictionary has stood the test of time and is still consulted by students of Sanskrit
