505 | 8 | |a "In 'Illuminating in micrography', Dalia-Ruth Halperin analyzes the Catalan Micrography Mahzor, a fourteenth-century Barcelonan manuscript in Israel's National Library. Decorated with micrography, the Jewish scribal art typical of Bible manuscripts, this mahzor, which includes a rich full-page panel micrography cycle, is unique. Along with the codicological and paleographical analysis, essential for understanding the scribe's thought and working processes, the author's meticulous reading of the micrography text reveals the scribe's textual editing and manipulations. Decoding his writing flow and sequences revealed a close association between the penned text and the images formed, which reflect a Jewish theosophical-theurgical cycle. Evidence of the scribe's association with the renowned Bassa atelier enhances our knowledge of the cultural, economic, and ethnic realities of the time."--Publisher description | |

Evidence of the scribe's association with the renowned Bassa atelier enhances our knowledge of the cultural, economic, and ethnic realities of the time."--Publisher description Primarily in English; includes some text in Hebrew Bet ha-sefarim ha-leʼumi ṿeha-universiṭaʼi bi-Yerushalayim Maḥleḳet kitve ha-yad ṿeha-arkhiyonim Manuscript Heb. 8o 6527 Machsor Bêt has-Sefārîm hal-Le'ummî we-hā-Ûnîversîṭā'î hā-ʿIvrî Ms. heb. 8° 6527 (DE-588)1043953191 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1330-1350 gnd rswk-swf Calligraphy, Hebrew fast Illumination of books and manuscripts fast Jewish illumination of books and manuscripts fast Writing, Minuscule fast ART / Folk & Outsider Art bisacsh CRAFTS & HOBBIES / Folkcrafts bisacsh Jewish illumination of books and manuscripts Calligraphy, Hebrew Writing, Minuscule Early works to 1800 Illumination of books and manuscripts Spain Schriftkunst (DE-588)4180005-9 gnd rswk-swf Kalligrafie (DE-588)4073168-6 gnd rswk-swf Buchmalerei (DE-588)4008650-1 gnd rswk-swf Juden (DE-588)4028808-0 gnd rswk-swf Hebräisch (DE-588)4023922-6 gnd rswk-swf Buchkunst (DE-588)4008648-3 gnd rswk-swf Spanien Katalonien (DE-588)4029916-8 gnd rswk-swf Machsor Bêt has-Sefārîm hal-Le'ummî we-hā-Ûnîversîṭā'î hā-ʿIvrî Ms. heb. 8° 6527 (DE-588)1043953191 u Hebräisch (DE-588)4023922-6 s Kalligrafie (DE-588)4073168-6 s Buchkunst (DE-588)4008648-3 s Buchmalerei (DE-588)4008650-1 s 1\p DE-604 Katalonien (DE-588)4029916-8 g Juden (DE-588)4028808-0 s Schriftkunst (DE-588)4180005-9 s Geschichte 1330-1350 z 2\p DE-604 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
