It holds a central position in every public debate over constitution, law and civil rights, as well as over the very essence of cultural identity. Here Meir Hatina sheds light on the issue of Islam in the state through the prism of Egypt during the twentieth century. She traces the continuity of Egyptian liberalism, from its emergence during the first half of the century through its repression following the July 1952 revolution, to the rise of secular liberalists such as Faraj Fuda in post-revolutionary Egypt. Identity Politics reveals the assertive nature of the Islamic struggle, the desire to remake the state by fostering a close affinity between faith and power, worship and politics, which holds contemporary resonance for all Middle Eastern states |

Identity Politics reveals the assertive nature of the Islamic struggle, the desire to remake the state by fostering a close affinity between faith and power, worship and politics, which holds contemporary resonance for all Middle Eastern states Fauda, Faraǧ swd Fauda, Faraǧ 1945-1992 (DE-588)119144840 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1950-2000 gnd rswk-swf POLITICAL SCIENCE / Political Process / Political Advocacy bisacsh Islam and state fast Islam swd Fundamentalismus swd Liberalismus swd Islam and state Egypt Liberalismus (DE-588)4035582-2 gnd rswk-swf Politik (DE-588)4046514-7 gnd rswk-swf Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 gnd rswk-swf Fundamentalismus (DE-588)4137178-1 gnd rswk-swf Ägypten (DE-588)4000556-2 gnd rswk-swf Ägypten (DE-588)4000556-2 g Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 s Fundamentalismus (DE-588)4137178-1 s Politik (DE-588)4046514-7 s Geschichte 1950-2000 z 1\p DE-604 Fauda, Faraǧ 1945-1992 (DE-588)119144840 p Liberalismus (DE-588)4035582-2 s 2\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 1-84511-135-4 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-1-84511-135-9 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=203499 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
