505 | 8 | |a In this work the author argues that the articulation of Jesus as Son of God in the Gospel of Matthew is significantly influenced by the Deuteronomic concept of obedient sonship. In support of the thesis, Matthew's multifaceted use of Scripture is considered, along with the prominence of Deuteronomy and the related themes of sonship and obedience in early Judaism and Christianity. It is concluded that Matthew has utilized these prevalent themes in a unique way, applying them messianically to Jesus, and consequently also to the early Christian community | |

In support of the thesis, Matthew's multifaceted use of Scripture is considered, along with the prominence of Deuteronomy and the related themes of sonship and obedience in early Judaism and Christianity. It is concluded that Matthew has utilized these prevalent themes in a unique way, applying them messianically to Jesus, and consequently also to the early Christian community Jesus Christ / Person and offices / Biblical teaching Jesus Christus Jesus Christ Person and offices Biblical teaching Bible Matthew Criticism, interpretation, etc Bible Deuteronomy Criticism, interpretation, etc Bible Deuteronomy Relation to Matthew Bible Matthew Relation to Deuteronomy Bibel Deuteronomium (DE-588)4011569-0 gnd rswk-swf Bibel Matthäusevangelium (DE-588)4038001-4 gnd rswk-swf Bible / Matthew / Criticism, interpretation, etc Bible / Deuteronomy / Criticism, interpretation, etc Bible / Deuteronomy / Relation to Matthew RELIGION / Biblical Studies / Jesus, the Gospels & Acts bisacsh RELIGION / Biblical Studies / New Testament bisacsh Bibel Son of God Biblical teaching Obedience Biblical teaching Gehorsam (DE-588)4019782-7 gnd rswk-swf Christologie (DE-588)4010141-1 gnd rswk-swf Sohn (DE-588)4203420-6 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Bibel Deuteronomium (DE-588)4011569-0 u Sohn (DE-588)4203420-6 s Gehorsam (DE-588)4019782-7 s Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s Bibel Matthäusevangelium (DE-588)4038001-4 u Christologie (DE-588)4010141-1 s 2\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe Crowe, Brandon D .
