Zusammenfassung: | The 'Naturalis historia' by Pliny the Elder provided Renaissance scholars, artists and architects with details of ancient architectural practice and long-lost architectural wonders - material that was often unavailable elsewhere in classical literature. Pliny's descriptions frequently included the dimensions of these buildings, as well as details of their unusual construction materials and ornament. This book describes, for the first time, how the passages were interpreted from around 1430 to 1580, that is, from Alberti to Palladio. Chapters are arranged chronologically within three interrelated sections - antiquarianism; architectural writings; drawings and built monuments - thereby making it possible for the reader to follow the changing attitudes to Pliny over the period. The resulting study establishes the 'Naturalis historia' as the single most important literary source after Vitruvius's De architectura |

The resulting study establishes the 'Naturalis historia' as the single most important literary source after Vitruvius's De architectura Plinius Secundus, Gaius 23-79 (DE-588)118595083 gnd rswk-swf Plinius Secundus, Gaius 23-79 Naturalis historia (DE-588)4196444-5 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1420-1600 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1400-1600 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf Architekturtheorie (DE-588)4112587-3 gnd rswk-swf Architektur (DE-588)4002851-3 gnd rswk-swf Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Dissertationen Online (DE-2581)TH000012886 gbd Plinius Maior (DE-2581)TH000002447 gbd Renaissance, Rezeption (DE-2581)TH000005253 gbd Rezeption & Wirkungsgeschichte (DE-2581)TH000005250 gbd Römische Architektur (DE-2581)TH000008033 gbd Plinius Secundus, Gaius 23-79 Naturalis historia (DE-588)4196444-5 u Architektur (DE-588)4002851-3 s Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 g Geschichte 1400-1600 z DE-604 Plinius Secundus, Gaius 23-79 (DE-588)118595083 p Architekturtheorie (DE-588)4112587-3 s Geschichte 1420-1600 z http://www.sehepunkte.de/2018/04/29840.html rezensiert in: sehepunkte 18 (2018), Nr. 4 Rezension V:DE-604 application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=028408206&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
