истории Хазарии на основе широкого круга средневековых источников. В них затра-
гиваются вопросы определения Хазарии как кочевого или полукочевого государства,
проблемы выявления ее меняющихся границ, места Хазарии в системе международных
отношений ѴІІІ-Х вв., раскрывается тема политических и экономических связей госу-
дарства, хазарского наследия в Восточной Европе. Особо выделены вопросы тюркско-
хазарских связей, управления, государственного и общественного устройства Хазарско-
го каганата, вероисповедания, специфики хозяйства и быта хазар. Книга объединяет
работы Т.М. Калининой, опубликованные в научных журналах и сборниках за период
с 1977 по 2013 г.

Summary
The book contains articles, wrote the famous orientalist and expert on the history
of Khazaria T. Kalinina, written in different years of the Khazars, published in vari-
ous anthologies and magazines, is not always easily accessible to the reader. In the
beginning of the study shows the range of the medieval Eastern sources containing
information about Khazaria. Dedicated to the Arab-Persian geographical and histori-
cal monuments, because they have preserved the most important evidence regarding
genealogy, geography, political and social history of the Khazars. The importance
and the need to identify the primary sources of such data due to the nature of medi-
eval literature, and especially of the East, which is characterized as «comparatively»
information, when news can be traced not to the time of the life and work of the
writer, and to a much earlier era.
Guides the term «al-Khazar» in the Arab-Persian literature. This includes top-
onyms, hydronyms, bury, etc., as well as the problem of the boundaries of Khazaria,
which varied both in time and in space due to political events, migration, etc., Paid
attention to the application in the Arab-Persian monuments of the name «al-Khazar»
as an ethnonym, which is associated with the views of different authors on settlement
and the ethnogenesis of people, its relations with the Turks, including genealogy.
Dedicated unusual story of a number of Arab writers of the biblical genealogy of the
Khazars.
Investigated anachronistic materials about political events, in which participated
the Khazar people; a number of researchers these materials are mistaken for authentic.
Developed information about the economy, employment, population, trade routes,
towns, including lists of annotated translations of the Arab-Persian and Jewish
sources about the city ITIL. Highlighted the role of trade in the Eastern Europe-
an space, including in Khazaria, shows the objects of exchange: furs, slaves, etc.
Analyzed information about the social and state system of Khazaria: the role of
Hakan and his Deputy at different time stages, officials and their titles, military or-
ganization. In the monograph taken into account the scientific literature and existing
points of view on the main issues of the existence of Khazaria
