Item Description:Of this issue with the spelling "defense" on the title page, the caption title appears variously as "A defence of the legislature of Massachusetts" and "A defense of the legislature of Massachusetts." Another issue (not in Shaw & Shoemaker) has the spelling "defense" on the title page and an erratum on p. 28, and a third issue (Shaw & Shoemaker 6135) has the spelling "defence" on the title page and the erratum. The correction indicated by the erratum in the earlier issues is present in this issue. - Relates to two measures adopted by the Massachusetts legislature, "one a proposition to amend the Constitution of the United States, by apportioning representatives among the states according to the number of free inhabitants; the other, to provide for the choice of electors of president and vice president by a general ticket."--p. [3]. - Shaw & Shoemaker, 6134
