Das Stammbuch wird dabei als Sammelform verstanden, die der Akquisition und Bewahrung spezifisch gebauter, situativ und funktional bestimmbarer Texte dient. Konstitution und milieuspezifische Ausdifferenzierung von Sammelgegenstand und Sammelmedium werden unter Rückbindung an kultur-, sozial- und mentalitätsgeschichtliche Kontexte vom Wittenberg Luthers bis ins frühe 18. Jahrhundert verfolgt.
