| Item Description: | Main description: Die Nibelungenlied-Handschrift n, vom Schreiber Johann Lang auf 1449 datiert, bietet nur den zweiten Teil des Epos, stellt aber eine Zusammenfassung des ersten Teils in 19 Strophen voran und ist damit als in sich geschlossene Fassung zu werten. Sie enthält interessante Bezüge zur Dietrich-Epik, zur Klage und auffällige Korrespondenzen zur nordischen Überlieferung. Sie ist Teil einer südhessischen Sammelhandschrift, die auch den einzigen Zeugen von »Alpharts Tod« enthalten hat sowie den »Wilhelm von Österreich« des Johann von Würzburg. Die Edition bietet den vorsichtig gereinigten Text mit einer Konkordanz zur übrigen Überlieferung, mit einem Verzeichnis der Fehl- und Zusatzstrophen sowie einem Namensverzeichnis Main description: Manuscript n of the »Nibelungenlied«, dated 1449 by its scribe Johann Lang, contains only the second half of the epic poem, but precedes this with a summary of the 'plot' of Part 1 in 19 stanzas.
