Acritical voice of Old Testament wisdom literature is the Book of Job, whose theme of unjustified and unexplained suffering concerns all of humanity. Interpreting the Book of Job is one of the great challenges of Old Testament research. Various theoretical models on its origin have emerged in recent years which mainly focus on the figure of Job and his multifaceted stance toward God. Praesentia Dei is a decidedly theological study which explores the different conceptions of the presence of God in the Book of Job. Unjustified suffering and the experience of a hidden God lead Job to a process of theological reflection. Thus, in the research on the Book of Job a new investigative perspective comes to the fore - the conception of God.
