Beschreibung:Advertised in the Continental journal, Boston, Oct. 27, 1785. - Drake, M. Almanacs, 3371. - Erroneously attributed to David Rittenhouse by Evans. The actual calculator was Samuel Stearns. The calculations and astronomical and horological notes on the calendar pages duplicate those in Thomas's Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode-Island, New-Hampshire & Vermont almanack for 1786, except that Thomas's, devoting two pages to each month instead of one, has many additional calculations and notes. A letter from Stearns to Thomas, dated Oct. 25, 1785, in the manuscript collection of the American Antiquarian Society, shows Stearns to have been the calculator of Thomas' almanac. - Evans, 19225. - Stearns' letter to Thomas is in reference to his eclipse predictions, he having been the only New England almanac calculator to predict four instead of five for 1786. In the present Weatherwise version, the fifth eclipse (Dec. 20) has been added. The rest of the eclipse predictions and subjoined astronomical notes on p. [2] duplicate those in Thomas
