At a meeting of the governors and directors of the Maryland Susquehanna Canal, held at the Canal, on Thursday, the 28th May, 1795, resolved, that Samuel Hughes, George Gale, and John Holmes, be empowered and requested to concert with the citizens of Pennsylvania, or such persons as they may think proper to appoint, the most eligible mode of removing the obstructions and improving the navigation of the River Susquehannah, and make report of their proceedings:
